Executive Director, Global Alliance for Banking on Values

Marcos Eguiguren

Dr. Marcos Eguiguren is the Executive Director of the Global Alliance for Banking on Values, the worldwide alliance of ethical and sustainable banks.  He is an entrepreneur and cofounder of SingularNet, a mid sized professional services firm whose main goal is to help organizations incorporate sustainability in their DNA and in their day to day business. Marcos is also currently Professor of Business Administration at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and Mel King Community Fellow of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology – Colab.

Between May 2008 and May 2015 he was the only Spanish member of the Supervisory Board of Triodos Bank NV, the leader in ethical banking in Europe. Marcos holds other supervisory board positions in companies in industries such as leisure and publishing.

He was a Partner and Managing Director of Grupo Empresarial Inmark, S.A. a large professional services firm with more than 300 consultants and with subsidiaries in 8 countries in the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America until December 2011. Inmark provided strategic consulting, market research and people development services to large companies, specially banks, and telecoms in those markets. In 2009, along with three other C.E.O.’s and Executive Partners belonging to other large European consulting firms from Denmark, Germany and France, he founded and was appointed member of the Steering Committee of the BICK consortium, a pan European alliance that designed and delivered strategy, finance and management skills top level training and development programs for the European Union and all related Institutions throughout the continent as well as for other large European organizations.

Marcos holds a Bachelor in Economics, Universitat de Barcelona, as well as postgraduate degrees in Business Administration, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and IT and Business Management, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.  In 2000, Marcos got his PhD in Business Administration, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya with a Thesis on the profitability of intangible investments, specially focused on Training and HR investment in large corporations.
