3-4 May 2017, Zurich, Switzerland

The Responsible Finance & Investment Summit (RFI Summit) is an initiative of the RFI Foundation and Swiss Arab Network to build awareness of shared values that can bring socially responsible investing (SRI), environmental, social and governance (ESG) and Islamic finance together to increase their positive impact.

This Responsible Finance & Investment Summit brings together key stakeholders within responsible finance to build connections to new growth opportunities and more measurable impact. The RFI Summit will play a vital role in connecting representatives from across the responsible finance industry to build on the growing cooperation between SRI, ESG and Islamic finance.

Key trends shaping responsible investment and finance

Opportunities for convergence & collaboration between developed & emerging markets

The current state and future prospects for Islamic investment and finance

Arab asset managers and financiers with their European and Swiss counterparts

Asset and wealth management to better address stakeholder demands

In panel discussions, interactive sessions and through participant contributions, we will focus on the five pillars of the Responsible Finance & Investment Summit

  • Benefits from responsible finance

Address shared values to build bridges between responsible investment & faith-based finance

Responsible investment principles already touch one-third of global financial assets

  • Attracting responsible finance

Building on efforts in Europe and the Middle East where different forms of responsible finance are reaching critical mass

90% of responsible investment assets are located in developed markets

  • Measuring the impact

Increase the quantity and quality of social impact data

Target data which is financially material and useful for asset owners

  • Sharing the benefits

Support effective approaches that are relevant in emerging and developed markets

Ensure the growth of responsible finance reaches beyond those who are bankable today

  • Broadening the base

The global Muslim population is 1.6 billion people, with a young demographic and a majority living in emerging markets

Emerging markets are expected to grow more than twice as fast as developed markets where growth is likely to stay under 2%.

The RFI Foundation, in partnership with the Swiss Finance + Technology Association, Finocracy and the Responsible Finance & Investment (RFI) Summit partners, launched the Support Disruption for Good (SDG) Challenge to find the most promising ethical, responsible or Islamic FinTech innovation and connect them to the leading institutions in the responsible finance industry.

SDG Challenge

All applicants were judged against a transparent set of criteria by an independent judging panel drawn from across the responsible finance and FinTech industry. During the review process judges evaluated the ability of each entrant to effectively scale, contribute to financial inclusion, contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals while being financially sustainable.

The following three finalists were selected to present their innovation on 4 May 2017 during the RFI Summit in Zurich:

– Tez Financial Services
– Pintail
– AgriFunder

Delegates will cast the final vote to select the winning innovation. The winner of the SDG Challenge will have the chance to work closely with the judging panel as well as gain exposure during the Summit and have their story told to the wider responsible finance industry after the Summit ends.
